In continuation of my letter of the 19th instant, 1 have the honour to inform you that the Nippon Yusen Kaisha as "Atsuta Maru" left Shanghai yesterday with a further detachment of men, volunteers for service in His Majesty's Army.

I beg to enclose list of the men, with records of their past services. 28 were on board when the vessel left, and two more will join the steamer at Hongkong.

Letters of appreciation have been received from men on both the "Sowa Maru" and the "Atsuta Maru" with regard to the accommodation and to the messing: and to the Captains, Officers and crew of these steamers I would likewise ask you to extend the thanks of the Association.

Further to my letter of the 31st October, I have the honour to inform you that the

P. & O, 8,8, "Nubia" left Shanghai on the 17th instant with a further detachment of men, volunteers for service in His Majesty's Army.

I beg to enclose list of the men with records of their past services. Twenty-six were

on board when the vessel left and one will join the steamer at Hongkong.

The as. Nubia" connects with the 8,6, arrive at London on the 24th December.

THE THIRD BRITISH CONTINGENT.

DEPARTURE FROM SHANGHAI.

The third British Volunteer Contingent left for home on Tuesday by the P. & 0. steamer "Nubia." Numbering twenty-seven, they were given a most enthusiastic send- off at the Customs Jetty at half-past eight in the morning by a crowd of between 300 and 400. The arrangements for their departure were, as before, in the bands of the local branch of the China Association,
